The cool sea breeze, spectacular Marine Drive(Mumbai,India) and a display of pictures underlining a deep concern for our planet earth.... doesn't that sound perfect?
An exhibition titled "Earth from Above" has been put up on Marine Drive that has fantastic aerial photographs of Yann Arthus-Bertrand's travels had been put up in that perfect scenario. The photo exhibit is a part of the Bonjour India Festival.Born 1946 in France,Yann has become globally famous as a nature photographer.During his career he discovered the beauty of the world as seen from above when he became a hot air balloon pilot and began experimenting with aerial photography. These include a current picture of a town close to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster : a ghost town with snow covered streets without the slightest trace of humanity.Yet he shows hope with an incredible natural mangrove formation in New Caledonia, which is in the shape of a heart.Almost 50 percent of the footage he shot in India was confiscated, and it proved to be the costliest shoot in all of his travels.

Yann says,"With Earth from above,I simply want people to see the Earth as it is today, as faithfully as possible. What motivates me is the impact a photograph can make within the framework of environmental preservation. The great novelty of our time is that mankind has the power to change its environment and I want my photos to testify to this fact so people can realise this."

Like Yann Arthus-Bertrand, we at Duniya Gol Hai also believe that spreading awareness through [and with] technology can help people across the world realise the impact of their actions towards our environment and contribute to making the world a better place. So if you are in Mumbai, make sure to visit the exhibition , but more imporatntly make sure 2010 is a year where each one of become more responsible citizens of this planet we call home.
Catch the exhibition until 8th January 2010 at Marine Drive,Mumbai.
